FOUNDERS & CREATIVE DIRECTORS
Guided by intuition and an underlying sense of ease, Tania Handelsmann and Gillian Khaw “don’t work from a fixed aesthetic or a signature look”, choosing instead to create “a framework that allows each project to unfold naturally through proportion, light, materiality, texture and atmosphere,” they share. “Layering is central to how we work, mixing old and new, hard and soft, expressive and restrained, to create interiors that feel collected, comfortable and quietly confident rather than overly polished or prescriptive.”
Projects include an eclectic array of Federation houses, Art Deco apartments and Arts and Crafts homes, yet the whimsy and romanticism that imbues their projects never feels confined to a certain period or style.
Strong relationships with a network of builders, suppliers and artists allow the team’s vision to be executed seamlessly from design to construction.
Their work has been featured in a number of Australian and international publications including Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Vogue Living, Est & Belle.
OUR TEAM
Our studio undertakes a limited number of projects at any one time, allowing Tania and Gillian to be closely involved in every stage of the creative direction. Supported by a small team of interior designers, the studio brings together extensive professional experience gained both locally and internationally, infusing each project with informed insight and finely tuned expertise.

With over nine years of experience in high-end residential design, Ursula has spent the past eight years working closely alongside Tania and Gillian.

INTERIOR DESIGNER
After graduating with a Bachelor of Interior Architecture with First Class Honours, Brooke joined Handelsmann + Khaw and has been part of the studio for over four years.

SENIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER
With over eight years of experience across commercial and residential interior design, Caitlin joined Handelsmann + Khaw just over a year ago.

Handelsmann + Khaw X Dunlin
We have long admired the quality and refinement of Dunlin's collections. Our first collection came about from where we found a need for feature lights in our projects, small moments of decorativeness that tread the line between masculine and feminine, that work in contemporary spaces as well as heritage homes. We were inspired by vintage lights and antique silverware, particularly French and Danish pieces from the 1920s-1940s.
